Advice on How to Become a Twitch.tv Affiliate

Whether or not free Twitch overlays are available for the program you're using, you may either develop your layouts or choose from a selection of free Twitch overlays. If you want to invest money in your overlay, you can hire individuals on the Internet to create it for you.

What Is a Twitch Affiliate?

A Twitch affiliate is a streamer who has met specific requirements to make money through adverts, subscriptions, and bits. Many streamers aspire to become Twitch affiliates and then work with the company to generate ad income and convert streaming into a "job."

In this article, I'll show you how to become a Twitch affiliate and how I did it in less than two months. Because I engage on Twitch channels, I've gained a lot of followers throughout the years, but I haven't been allowed to stream until lately.

How You Get Started

To get started, you'll need to create a Twitch account. You make and validate an email address, then pick a username and create an account.

After you've created your account, you'll be able to customize your profile image. Go to the video producer button after setting up your account and profile image.

Then select "Streaming Tools" from the "Creator Dashboard" menu. Choose the streaming program that appeals to you once you've opened "streaming tools." I use Streamlabs OBS, although there are many more streaming software options.

Connect Your Streaming Software to Your Twitch Account

Connect Your Streaming Software to Your Twitch Account

Use the Streaming key issued by Twitch to connect your Twitch account to your streaming software. Go to your Creator Dashboard, choose "settings," then "stream." On the "Primary Stream Key," click the "copy" button. The Primary Stream Key is the key that allows you to stream to your account, so please don't share it with anybody. Unless your program will enable you to connect to Twitch directly from the software, paste your stream key into the stream key setting.

Customize Your Stream Layout

After installing your preferred streaming software, you may build scenes with overlays, notifications, a chatbox, and a webcam to capture your action.

Whether or not free Twitch overlays are available for the program you're using, you may either develop your layouts or choose from a selection of free Twitch overlays. If you want to invest money in your overlay, you can hire individuals on the Internet to create it for you.

I utilize Streamlabs, which offers free Twitch overlays on their website and commercial overlays if you subscribe. I modified a free overlay from Streamlabs, and I like how it turned out.

When changing your audio settings, add a gain filter to your desktop and microphone audio. Despite having my volume turned up, my audience told me that my voice wasn't booming when I was streaming. In Streamlabs, I located the grain settings and increased the loudness of my microphone. I was able to correct my audio and no longer have to worry about my volume settings, so you should do the same and create a test video on your streaming program that you can listen to.

Add a new scene to customize your stream layout.

You may use various services to add personalized notifications to your Twitch feed. You may utilize the sites and connect them to your Twitch account to use the site defaults or personalize your messages using audio from your computer.

Depending on your streaming platform, your notifications appear on stream when someone follows you, subscribes to you, gifts a subscription to someone in your chat, contributes or gives you bits, or purchases products from your stream store.

I created some unique notifications for my stream, which look and sound great. It took me a day to put things up, but they're fantastic on my stream. Depending on your program, you can update or add more notifications at any moment.

Include a chatbox in your scene to show your Twitch chat on the stream. You control where it displays on your stream and how long it remains there.

You may include a tip jar so your viewers can send money or bits. It's a kind gesture on their part, but unless you're well-known, you won't get many tips.

Pick a Game to Stream

So you've spent time setting up your streaming software, layouts, widgets, and alerts and connecting your Twitch account via your Stream Key or the program you're using.

Now you have to choose the game you'll be broadcasting.

Streaming anything you like is my recommendation. If people see your initial broadcast and realize that you're having fun with what you're doing, they'll stay and talk and follow you.

If you want to start your broadcast with the most recent release, that's OK, but keep in mind that everyone else on Twitch is doing the same thing, and because it's your first stream, you'll be competing for viewers' attention.

Ensure your title includes the words "First Stream" since this will capture visitors' eyes and pique their interest in checking you out.

Just remember to have fun when you choose your game. People will appreciate your stream and stay if you are having fun.

The requirements for reaching Twitch Affiliate are:

  • Reach 50 followers
  • Stream for 8 hours
  • Stream on seven different days
  • Have an average of 3 viewers

This must be done daily for 30 days. Getting 50 followers and an average of 3 viewers in my streams was the most challenging part of becoming a Twitch affiliate for me. However, you may face a different obstacle. If you keep your routine regularly, you'll be able to become an affiliate in no time.

You'll have to work to become an affiliate, and the first step is always the most difficult.

Affiliate Requirements

Participate in the communities of games you enjoy. I have been involved in the Fate/Grand Order community since I played the mobile game. I watch a lot of broadcasts and watch a lot of Fate/Grand Order players. I play other games as well, but I only watch streamers that interest me.

I spend a lot of time in that community and some of the individuals I've streamed have followed me on Twitch, and people I watch occasionally raid me. It's essential to be a part of a community before you start streaming; if you've watched a lot of streams, people will recognize your name.

If they see you on other people's broadcasts, they will come to watch you if you are engaged in your game's community. I'd advise against being overly self-promotional on other people's streams; I try not to be too aggressive when promoting myself.

Other streams' Discord channels will feature an area for "self-promotion," where you may advertise yourself.

Have a Schedule

Maintain a schedule; if you broadcast regularly, your audience will expand. Make a timetable that suits you. There's also a vacation option, which lets your Twitch fans know you're not broadcasting. Just make sure you don't provide any personal information that you don't wish to share.

Create a plan that works for you so that streaming does not become a chore.

Your Followers Will Come

You may not see much progress at first, and it may take some time to gain the needed number of followers to become a Twitch affiliate. Don't be disheartened; folks will come if you're persistent and stream frequently.

Make a timetable for yourself, and if you need to take a break, you may adjust it to match your needs. You will be able to become a Twitch affiliate if you are consistent.

There is a vacation mode to let your viewers know when you're on vacation, but just a warning that when it comes to your personal information, stay careful and don't expose too much about yourself.

Maintain streaming regularly, and your viewers flock to you and your channel.

After you’ve become an Affiliate, Here Are Some Tips.

Do Fun Things for Your Audience

It would be best if you were entertaining your viewers as a streamer. Set goals for your chat channel in terms of channel points so you can help them. Many streamers conduct gifts for their audience, generally in the form of gacha rolls for mobile game broadcasters or digital downloads of games or other items, and it doesn't have to be expensive.

Maintain your audience's interest but don't feel obligated to spend a lot of money to do it. Your audience will appreciate coming to your streams if you can develop engaging, free activities and methods to keep them entertained.

Don't rush towards becoming a Twitch affiliate.

Don't rush your quest to become a Twitch Affiliate if you're getting started streaming on Twitch. For some individuals, Twitch streaming as a career sounds like a "dream job." However, streaming necessitates the ability to keep your audience coming back to watch your streams frequently.

Don't feel obligated to get to affiliate as soon as possible; if you connect with the gaming community on Twitch and aren't overtly commercial, people will want to watch your shows. I try not to be very promotional on other people's streams because I don't want them to think I'm simply there to market myself.

Your path to Twitch affiliate may be lengthy or quick, but if you work hard and do just enough to catch viewers' attention, you'll soon be able to earn ad income, Twitch subs, and bits.

Do your best and have fun, and you'll be able to become a Twitch affiliate in no time.
